Why might a library which has traditionally had BOOKs have such things as snowshoes, puzzles, glue guns, double-burner, lawn games, and more?

Our library has joined the Sustainable Libraries Initiative. Part of our next three-year plan will involve looking at all our procedures and policies through these lenses: Is it environmentally sound? Absolutely - when we share items, we reduce the need to purchase items that may end up in the landfill. Is it economically feasible? Our Library of Things is funded by Friends of the Springfield Town Library, not tax dollars. And is it socially equitable? Yes! We provide these items to all Springfield residents (who can have a free card) no matter their situation.

Look for more information regarding the steps we take to be a more sustainable library and community.
